I've seen all TCM movies, is one of the few slasher franchises that I got fully invested besides ANOES and Halloween.

Objectively, the only good one is the first one from the 70's, despite the low budget it manages to genuinely create an eerie, isolated atmophsere that has never been replicated succesfully again in any following films.

The 2000's remakes in general are pretty shallow and try a little too hard of creating the gritty feeling the OG had, especially the 2003 one. The Beginning is wasted potential and barely passes for an actual prequel.

Yet, despite it's flaws, there's a a little factor that makes them stand out, a side character whose existence is both a mistake and a success: Sheriff Hoyt.

He's a mistake because it's ridiculous to write such a menacing villain in a film that is suppoused to focus on Leatherface and it's a success because it's Hoyt who literally carries both films, saving the movies from being the forgettable remakes they are.
